Incline Flyes will not only have an effect on your middle/inner chest muscles but also on your upper chest. This will help provide you with that bulky wide chest look.

Instructions

All you need for this exercise is a set of dumbbells and a bench which can be inclined to around 45degrees. This doesn't have to be exact so don't worry if yours misses it by a few degrees either way.

  1. Sit at the end of an inclined exercise bench with a dumbbell resting on each of your thighs.
  2. 'Kick' the weights to your shoulders and at the same time lie back on the bench, press the dumbbells straight up inline with your upper chest. Your palms should be facing each other. Your elbows should be slightly bent. This is your starting position.
  3. Slowly lower the weights down to the side of you in a semi circle motion.
  4. Once the dumbbells are at around chest level, squeeze your chest muscles and raise the dumbbells back up to the starting position.
  5. Don't let the dumbbells touch at the top. Continue the above steps for each rep that you do.

Dumbbell flyes is a stretching movement and it is important that you get a full range of motion from each rep. The movement should be done slowly and you should focus on contracting your chest muscles to get the maximum benefit out of this chest exercise.

The above video explains how to do this exercise correctly as it can be a little tricky for the beginner to perform.
