Working out at home is a great way to increase your fitness levels and develop the body you have always wanted. Cardio training is vital for increasing and maintaining fitness levels, burning body fat and generally stay healthy.
Research has proven that just 20minutes of exercise a day can help promote longer life, reduce stress, increase health benefits and help burn body fat.
Cardio workouts are defined as exercise that increases your bodies heart rate about its normal level. This can be as simple as walking to running a marathon.
You do not need any fancy equipment or machinery to do a cardio workout and below you will find a great selection of home cardio workouts to choose from.
Try These Great Home Workouts
If you are new to exercise and consider yourself to be unfit then you will want to start off slowly and gradually build on the intensity of your workouts. This can be as simple and going for a half hour walk a few times a week. You can gradually build on this by increasing the lengths of your walks, upping your walking pace or both.
Steady progression is the key to getting in shape. Not only is this statement true for home cardio workouts but for all other workouts and all areas of life. Its the same as saying you have to crawl before you can walk and then walk before you can run.
Here are some examples of what home cardio workouts you could do:
The above are just some basic examples of things you can do without the use of a gym. Anyone can stick on a pair of trainers and go for a walk so there is really no excuse for not exercising. If you are able to up the pace from walking to jogging or running then that's great, a simple 30minute session 2-4 times a week will gradually improve your fitness levels.
If you prefer to do your home cardio workouts without leaving the confines of your own home then don't worry there are still plenty of home workouts for you to choose from.
As i mentioned above skipping is a great way to increase
cardiovascular fitness. A standard speed skipping rope will probability set you back about $5-$10 and is a great investment. Try and keep your jumps as small as possible and go for speed. You can start of with 30second rounds and try and skip no stop for 30seconds. Do this 2-4 times to begin with with about 30seconds rest in between. You will soon start to get out of breath and feel your heart worker harder and faster with this home fitness workout.
Again you can increase the intensity as your fitness levels increase by increasing the length of each round, increasing the number of reps or shortening the rest period. You don't need alot of space to do skipping however you need a fair amount of ceiling space. It is possible to do skipping indoors but to prevent accidental damages from the rope you may be better off doing it in your back garden or spare room if you have one.
Bodyweight exercises are ones that you can do without any equipment and you use the weight of your body to complete each exercise. Basic examples of these include push ups, sit ups, burpees, star jumps etc. When you combine a group of exercises together with little or no rest in between each one you get what is known as a circuit. Circuit training is a great way to increase cardio fitness as a great demand is placed on your body causing you to breathe heavily, your heart to pump more and you to burn fat, build muscle and get fitter.
A popular way for people to do their home cardio workouts is by following a fitness DVD. There are plenty of aerobic DVD's to choose from some are better then others but all essentially involve you following the workout which is demonstrated on your telly. This can be a great way to motivate yourself during the workout as you are following someone else's footsteps and you often don't need a lot of room to perform your workout. You do however need access to a DVD player which has a clear floor space in front of it. This may mean moving bits of furniture etc. The exact space you need would be determined by the home fitness workout and what exercises it has you doing.

Carrying on from the home cardio workouts DVD's one of my favorite workouts for doing in my living room are Tae Bo workouts. Tae bo came out years ago and was crafted by Billy Blanks who produced a set of workout DVD's which are really easy to follow for people of all fitness abilities. The beauty of Tae bo is that you don't have to be some sort of Mr Miaggi martial arts expert, these workouts are designed to be followed by ordinary people who want to see results.

Here are some great tips i have for you in order to get the most out of your home cardio workouts.
Personally the most important part is doing the workout it self and not worrying about the time to train. If you want to burn fat faster then you can do an interval session of cardio first thing in the morning before you eat breakfast. This way your body will be dipping into its fat stores for its energy.
If you cant make an early morning workout then that's fine and its better do actually do a workout then worry about what time to do one.
