Tae Bo is a unique home workout system that combines basic martial arts moves, aerobic exercise and dance. Almost everyone who was around in the late nineties should have heard about Tae Bo as it has been featured on almost every television program and every newspaper.
Tae Bo was created by professional martial artist Billy Blanks and is designed for everybody. There are lots of different Tae Bo workouts to choose from and
depending on your training exercise you can either start off with the basic training and work up or go straight into one of the advanced workouts.
Billy Blanks Tae Bo workouts are on DVD which means you can benefit from the workouts in your own home. Simply load up the specific workout you want to do and follow Billy as he dose it.
Top Tip
You will need a fair bit of space for the Billy Blanks Tae Bo workouts so make sure you have space in front of your TV. If you need to move furniture then do it, and move it back afterwards.
If you have a lap top or portable DVD player then you could play the DVD and workout out anywhere you like.
Tae Bo workouts are very motivating and they beat the boring sunday morning jog around the local park or early morning bike ride. These workouts are fun and will have you sweating buckets, trust me i know.

Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVD's are relatively inexpensive and you can get them from most DVD shops. Places like Wal Mart may even sell them. You can of course get them online as well. A workout could set you back $5-$20 but when you think of what you get for that price. Most personal trainers charge well over that per hour and for that money you could get your DVD which you can do as many times as you like.
As i said before there are many types of Tae Bo workouts and the video clip below demonstrates the basic cardio one.
The workouts consist of a warm up and stretch followed by the workout itself and a cool down at the end. Each workout will be done in a different format but will always start with a warm up and end with a cool down.
Most of the workouts do not require any equipment (except a DVD player of course). However if you want to up the intensity of the workout and when you get a little advanced you can choose one of the resistance band, dumbbell or step workouts that is on offer.
For those of you who have been following my muscle building and fat burning progress then you will be well aware that i use Billy Blanks Tae Bo workouts for my cardio. I highly recommend these workouts and i truly believe that they are mostly responsible for my fat loss over my 12 week training plan.
Please don't think that by following Billy Blanks Tae Bo lessons you will be some sort of jackie Chan because the workouts are not designed to teach you the skills of a martial artist. Yes you will be following some of the basic movements and basic principles of body conditioning and punching and kicking, but these movements are done in the air and not at an opponent.
The key to mastering the workouts is to learn the moves. This may mean just spending the first few days following along slowly so that you can get the steps and movements right.
Remember
You get out of these workouts what you put in it. A half assed attempt to follow the workouts will lead to little or no results.
As with all workouts consistency is the key to making progress with it. The more workouts you do over a long period of time the better. In the beginning i recommend doing a minimum of 2 workouts per week. You can gradually increase this up to 6 if you wish for maximum results. There are lots of different workouts so don't just think you have to stick to a certain kind. Mix up your workouts to prevent you and your body from getting bored.
Have you tried one of the Tae Bo workouts? We would love you to share your story with our readers.
